Sea Kayaking: Transportation for Eco-tourists October 2011 Written by Elise Oberliesen for Estates West Magazine 2011

Like a blank canvass, blue cloudless skies floated in front of the kayak. Off in the distance, a white sandy beach came into view. Nope, not the legendary Coronado Island. With the bow pointed toward Carmen Island, I chased away the hunger pangs with a handful of trail mix. Soon our fleet of 12 kayaks descended at the lunchtime paradise. Freshly prepared Ceviche atop crispy tostadas satisfied my clock-like appetite. Soft adventure travel like this boosts the fun factor with a tab bit of challenge.

Sea kayaking in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico

Why go Sea Kayaking in Mexico's Sea of Cortez?
Where do I start? So many reasons: the blow-your-mind sea to mountainous desert views; the whopping array of wildlife; that oh-so-close to nature feel; the health benefits of propelling yourself across ocean waters beneath soaring sea cliffs; access to white-sand coves; the possibility of sighting blue whales. I could go on...so I will.

Rudderless Bliss in Baja - A novice kayak tourer revels in the rhythms of life on the Sea of Cortez

“Quick, put the fish back in the water!” I yell to Bill.

A Botox-lipped fish, called a Burrito Grunt, is flopping around at my feet, covered in sand, fighting for its life.

A few minutes earlier, high in the horizon, I watched a cormorant pluck the unlucky fish from the Sea of Cortez. A large frigate bird with forked tail feathers then gave chase to the cormorant. It was like a Discovery Channel scene come alive.
An Orca Odyssey off Vancouver Island, Edmonton Journal June 2009 By Donald Mallon, regarding Johnstone Strait BC, Edmonton Journal, June 27, 2009

"Orcas!" I said. Lexie and Caleb, our Sea Kayak Adventures guides, were asking me and seven others about our overall objective for a six-day kayaking trip. My co-paddlers and I were attending a night-before, planning-and-get-to-know-each-other session at the Haida-Way Inn in Port McNeill on the northeastern tip of Vancouver Island.

Exploring Nature: Black(fish) Magic, by Matt Davidson July 2003

By Matthew Davidson, Sea Kayak Adventures, Inc.

Blackfish, aka Orca, or, more commonly, killer whale - a creature that inspires awe in we land-bound humans. "Blackfish" is what the coastal Kwakwaka'wakw band (First Nations peoples) in British Columbia call these sleek hunters, which are actually mammals.

Kayaking the Sunset Sea, San Luis Obispo Tribune June 2002

By Rob Mohle - Special to the San Luis Obispo Tribune June 7, 2002
Baja sunset

It was a cold, dreary December day. The room was dark and the only sound was the gentle pitter-patter of rain. I stared vacantly at the gray computer screen deleting the junk email that had accumulated over the past week. Being an outdoors person, this was not my idea of a fun way to spend a Saturday. As I scrolled down the seemingly endless list one email suddenly caught my eye. "Imagine paddling your kayak with blue whales, hiking through forests of giant cardon cactus, swimming with colorful tropical fish and camping on remote beaches. Join Sea Kayak Adventures for seven days exploring the Sea of Cortez." Wow, this sounded just like the trip my wife Amie and I had been dreaming about.

Wilderness Sea Kayaking in British Columbia's Johnstone Strait, Westjet Inflight Magazine May 2002

By Elle Andra-Warner - Special to Westjet's Inflight Magazine "Airlines" May 2002

It was one of those baby-boomer "I-can-do-anything" moments that landed me in a kayak, traveling through British Columbia's Johnstone Strait and Inside Passage.

In a surge of daring adventurousness, I signed myself up for a six-day summer kayak trip, momentarily ignoring the fact that I had never kayaked before.
