Experience Whales Without Walls in British Columbia
Your kayak rises and dips off the shores of Vancouver Island. Someone points in the distance, and there: small spouts of mist catch the light and then fall with the wind. Among the waves, short inky tips pierce the water like pointed teeth. You paddle closer, and a dorsal fin, jutting proudly toward the sky, captures you in sight, mind and soul.
This is what brought Sea Kayak Adventures to British Columbia’s Johnstone Straight in the first place 25 years ago. To witness killer whales in their natural habitat. To discover a window into another world, one where orcas aren’t performers in a circus ring and instead roam the waters as they were meant to be: wild and free. Natural performers, orcas don’t need whistles to give you a good show full of pectoral fin slapping, playful rolling and plenty of graceful breaching to leave you breathless.

I have waited a lifetime to see orcas in the wild, and this trip did not disappoint. We saw either humpbacks or orcas on each day, as well as many bald eagles, seals, sea lions, and porpoises. Our guides did an amazing job of keeping us in the right locations, but also, safe, well-fed, and entertained. I highly recommend this trip! It was an amazing experience!

We took the 6 day kayaking trip through the Johnstone Strait, in hopes of seeing Orcas and Humpback whales...and boy did we ever! It was almost like our guides 'queued the wildlife!' In addition to the trip being planned thoroughly, our guides were awesome!

This was an amazing trip! I saw orcas beach rubbing, humpback whales breaching, harbor seals, and tons of other marine life! It is the most amazing experience to see the marine life from a kayak, and I can't wait to go on this trip again.
