The Best Guides in Adventure Travel

Truly one of the biggest values and main reasons to go on a guided trip, are the guides. They are at the heart of any trip’s success and because of that truth, we invest heavily in our guide selection and training process. When hiring guides, we look for people with enthusiasm, energy, a natural penchant for guest service, heartfelt caring and in-depth local knowledge. Once hired, we invest in a multifaceted training approach, conducting guide training clinics around the world.  During these 5-7 day courses, we cover a myriad of topics including natural and cultural history interpretation, guest service, company philosophy and risk management, in addition to the nuts and bolts of tour operations. We also sponsor our guides to visit our operations in other countries. We bring Mexican guides to the US and Canada, Canadian guides to the US and Mexico, Cuban guides to Mexico, US guides to a host of countries, and so forth. This cross fertilization creates company-wide camaraderie and a strong sense of team. It’s an opportunity to share best practices and for our all-star team to learn from each other. Much of this training is done personally by Sea Kayak Adventures President Peter Grubb, along with others that have trained directly under him. This cultivates consistency and a strong culture of inclusiveness and ensures that our guides understand our mission and values.

We are a guest-centric organization that fully appreciates the trust you put in us to provide a superlative travel experience. Our guests will tell you how much they appreciate our guides, each of whom is a talented, gifted person sure to make you smile.
