Sebastián grew up in Quito, Ecuador with an early passion for travel. An opportunity to partake in an Amazon rafting trip during high school further fueled his passion and cemented his decision to pursue a career in outdoor recreation and guiding.  

Sebastián traveled and lived in Santiago de Chile, Canada, the United States, and Costa Rica. Along the way he received his Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Administration, improved his kayaking skills, and perfected his English. Once back in Ecuador, he started guiding active trips that involved whitewater rafting, mountain biking, hiking in the Andes Mountains, seakayaking in Galapagos Islands and paddle boarding in the Ecuadorian Amazon.  During all these years, Sebastián passion for the natural world only increased. He has invested his time learning the natural history and ecology of Ecuador, nature filming and photography and outdoor sports techniques in sea kayaking and paddle boarding. Sebastián is also certified as a Leave No Trace Trainer and has completed Wilderness First Aid and CPR courses and his Red Cross First Aid Certification. In addition he holds a National Guide Certification by the Ministry of Turismo in Ecuador.
