Alfredo (Tico) Murillo

Baja Sea Kayak Guide and Panguero

Known to most as Tico, Alfredo Murillo González was born and raised in Puerto San Carlos, a fishing community on Bahía Magdalena in Baja California Sur. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Alternative Tourism from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur, with studies completed in Loreto and La Paz.

Tico began working on the water in 2016, starting as a general helper before moving into roles as a deckhand, captain, and sea kayak guide. His work is deeply rooted in a lifetime spent on the ocean and in his background as part of a local, multi-generational fishing family.

Guiding allows Alfredo to share Baja from an authentic perspective. He combines strong local knowledge with respect for the sea, safety, and thoughtful exploration. When he’s not guiding, he enjoys playing soccer, spearfishing, kayaking, fishing, and exploring new places.

"Everything about the Loreto five day kayak trip was perfect. Such wonderful guides, exceptional paddling opportunities, beautiful camp sites, delicious food, great hikes, and a terrific group of people to share the trip with. The dolphins and snorkeling were bonuses I couldn't have imagined. Thank you to Rafa, Lorena, Tiko and Nathan for making this such a memorable trip."
