Reviews

What can I say other than it was a magical, amazing trip to one of the most beautiful places on earth? We came away feeling so incredibly blessed. The islands are completely unspoiled, marine life amazing to see, clear beautiful water and beach. Our guides did a fantastic job; food was fresh and delicious and each day well planned. They really worked hard to make sure everything was safe and fun. Snorkeling with the sea lions and more colorful fish than you have ever seen was amazing as well. Whales! Dolphin! Sunsets! A magical trip I will never forget.

This is by far one of the coolest trips I’ve ever been on. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, thoughtful, and fun. The food was delicious. The scenery and wildlife was beyond beautiful. I loved being on remote beaches with just our group. And it was nice being cut off from the world, which is so rare these days. I can’t recommend this trip enough and have plans to do another in the future.

The combination of kayaking, hiking and snorkeling was a perfect variety. And the food and guides were fantastic. Truly 6 stars if I could give it!

FAQ's

What camping gear is provided?

Sea Kayak Adventures will provide you with a tent, inflatable sleeping pad, sleeping bag with a liner, and a pillow with pillowcase. Additionally, reusable plates, bowls and cutlery will be supplied for all meals. At the beginning of your tour you will receive a personal Sea Kayak Adventures stainless steel mug to use throughout the duration of your trip.

Are there showers at camp?

While kayaking, we can only carry enough fresh water for drinking and cooking. There are no fresh water sources on most of the coastline and islands we visit. You can clean up with saltwater and soap off above the high tide line, or bring disposable shower wipes. Check out more tips for staying clean while sea kayaking.

What is the bathroom at camp like?

A portable toilet will fit into a hatch of the kayak or on the panga support boat, and will be transported to each campsite and set into a private, sheltered area for solid waste. Liquid waste can be expelled below the high tide line, or in a separate porta-potty bucket.

There will be two bucket style containers, one for solid waste and another for liquid waste in a stand up tent for privacy. There will also be a trash bag to dispose of any additional waste. We ask all guests to refrain from putting toilet paper into either bucket as it fills up and weighs down the soilds bucket, and makes the liquids bucket so we cannot dispose of it in the water. All used toilet paper will be bured in a small metal plate that will be beside the private tent along with a set of matches. We have a small can with toilet paper, hand sanitizer, wipes, etc, that serves as a key for the restroom at camp. If the can is missing from the hand washing station, the bathroom is occupied. If the can is in the sand next to the hand wash, the bathroom is open for use. You guides will give you a detailed orientation on how the restroom at camp works upon your arrival to camp on the first day of your tour.

Are there portable chargers at camp?

We do not provide communal portable chargers at camp. You are welcome to bring one along if you'd like to be able to recharge your cell phone, camera, kindle reader, etc.

What activities are there at camp?

At camp there will be activities such as frisbee, playing cards and volleyball nets. There will also be a small library of books about flora and fauna of the area that you are welcome to at all times. There is also plenty of opportunity to hike around camp or the surrounding area if you’d like to explore.

Can I bring my own sleeping bag and camping gear?

You are welcome to bring your own sleeping bag, sleeping pad, etc. If you do bring along any of your own camping gear, please let tour guide know to ensure that we do not overpack gear as space in kayaks is limited.

What kind of food will I eat at camp? Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Our renowned wilderness meals are prepared daily by our guides using local, fresh, healthy ingredients. In Baja you can expect an authentic dining experience, with savory dishes like chiles rellenos, tostadas, ceviche, and chicken mole. We even serve delicious desserts like brownies and pineapple upside-down cake! Each morning, we serve up freshly brewed coffee or tea. Throughout the day we provide an abundance of local fruits, vegetables, and other snacks. Wine and mixed drinks are served with hors d’oeuvres each evening for happy hour.

We do our best to accommodate special dietary requests, working within the parameters of the destinations in which we operate. If you have a very strict diet, we recommend packing extra snacks that you know you can eat.
