Do students need kayaking experience?

Students do not need kayaking experience to join our school group trips! Our tours are beginner-friendly, and our professional guides provide the necessary instruction and support throughout your journey.

How many students can you accommodate on a school group trip?

We can accommodate a variety of school group sizes on our sea kayaking tours, and we’re happy to work with you to find the best setup for your group’s needs. Please inquire with our team for additional details and to find the right adventure for your students.

Can trips be customized to align with our curriculum or learning goals?

Yes! We can customize school group trips to align with your curriculum or educational goals. These trips offer an amazing environment for anyone focused on marine biology, environmental studies, leadership development, or cultural immersion.

Are there options for students with dietary restrictions or special needs?

Yes, we offer options for students with dietary restrictions or special needs. Just let us know in advance and we’ll work with you to ensure everyone in your group is well cared for and included.

Is it safe to be around whales while kayaking on a school group trip?

While all adventure travel involves some level of inherent risk, we take extensive precautions to ensure student safety on the water. We use stable, expedition-style sea kayaks that are well-suited for group travel, and our experienced guides maintain a safe and respectful distance from wildlife at all times. Whales are highly aware of their surroundings, and in our years of operation, we’ve never had an incident involving a whale and a kayaker.

What gear do we need?

Sea Kayak Adventures will provide you with a detailed packing list prior to your trip. We provide all of the necessary camping, paddling and snorkeling equipment, which you will need to fully enjoy your adventure. If you have any questions, or need help deciding what to bring, you can call or e-mail one of our friendly Adventure Consultants at any time for some extra advice!

What’s camp like for school groups in Baja?

Camping in Baja is a core part of our school group trips! On our classic expeditions, your group will help carry kayaks above the high tide line and set up at a remote beach campsite. Campsites are assigned by the National Park Service, and we always aim for the most scenic and sheltered spots.

Students will be guided through setting up their tents, and we provide all sleeping gear—tent, sleeping bag, liner sheet, pillow, and sleeping pad. A shared kitchen area and shade tarps will be set up to create a comfortable base for meals and downtime.

For some trips, such as those in Magdalena Bay, we operate from a basecamp with a few added comforts. These include canvas wall tents with cots, a designated dining area with tables and chairs, and even a dome style tent for nightly whale talks. It’s a great option for younger groups or those looking for a little extra comfort without sacrificing the adventure.
